ISDT Medalist and Open Circuit Competitions | Dance Lessons In Essex

Dance Competitions

At ELITE Dance, we attend regional ISTD competitions for both adults and children on a regular basis, with an aim to ensure all our students qualify for the Blackpool Grand Finals.

We also recognise that competing isn't everyones goal, so to spice up their dance life and introduce the idea of competitions we attend fun competitions throughout the year. These competitions include catagories that are suitable for beginners and those who have never attended a competition before.

For those who are more serious competitors we also attend OPEN competitions.

See below for all the competitions will will be attending.

ENTERING AND EXCELLING IN MEDAL COMPETITIONS

A medal competition is where children and adult dancers across the country come together and compete against each other at their respective age and grade categories. Qualified judges adjudicate medal competitions. Solo children and adult dancers may enter these competitions and dance with their teacher instead of a partner. Couples may also dance in medalist competitions and compete for themselves and together in both the solo and couples categories.

Kyle has trained a high number of competition winners and has a great deal of experience in preparing students for medal competitions run by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). He regularly takes Elite Dance students to the capital of all dancing, Blackpool, for the Grand Finals and is interested in not only mentoring competition ballroom dancers in skill and technique but also giving them the mental and emotional skills to handle the heat. This supportive approach, commitment to excellence and emphasis on a student’s holistic welfare sets Elite Dance apart as a competition training centre.

Competition dance preparation will include:

  1. An understanding of the steps/figures required at each level
  2. Learning technique
  3. Understanding the characteristics of each dance
  4. Developing physical attributes
